“Young Thug Trial Continues After YSL Codefendant Stabbed in Jail” LIVE:

The highly anticipated trial of rapper Young Thug has resumed in an Atlanta, Georgia courtroom after a codefendant was stabbed in jail.

The trial, marred by numerous delays, saw Young Thug, also known as Jeffery Williams, arrested and charged in May 2022 in a extensive RICO indictment alongside 27 other defendants. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who is also using the same law to prosecute Donald Trump in his Georgia election interference case, has accused the suspects of being part of a criminal street gang named YSL or “Young Slime Life.”

Prosecutors allege that the gang is responsible for various violent crimes, including murders, shootings, carjackings, and racketeering. Young Thug vehemently denies the accusations, asserting that YSL is simply his record label—Young Stoner Life.

The trial has faced significant challenges. On Sunday, Shannon Stillwell, a YSL co-defendant, was stabbed “multiple times” in jail by a fellow inmate. Mr. Stillwell is in stable condition, according to the Fulton County sheriff’s office.

In mid-December, the judge ruled that Mr. Stillwell be housed separately in jail from his co-defendants in light of the stabbing. The trial is set to resume on January 2nd.
